Prof. Dr. Udo Kuckartz studied sociology, political science and computer science at the University of Aachen. After finishing his PhD on “Computer and verbal data. Innovation chances for research methods of the social sciences” at the Technical University Berlin, he achieved his postdoctoral lecture qualification (habilitation) at the Freie Universität (FU) Berlin in 1993. During all this time he worked as assistant professor at the FU Berlin. In 1994 and 1995 he was professor for methods and evaluation at the Humboldt University Berlin and until 1999 he worked as associate professor at the Department of Educational Science, psychology and sports science, FU Berlin. From 1999 he has been professor for empirical educational science at the Philipps University Marburg.
His research interests are in: environmental research, qualitative methodology and new technologies for social research, particularly in the development of software. In his fields of research interest he has to date published more than 100 publications (9 books).
